Abruzzo sits in the middle of Italy and across to the East coast. Abruzzo is arranged into 4 main provinces, L'Aquila (AQ), Chieti (CH) Teramo (TE) and Pescara (PE). It has a record that few Italian Regions have: there are beaches, mountains, lakes and countryside, easily accessible and well connected from anywhere in Abruzzo. The Region also has a road, highway and infrastructure system well developed, which allows you to easily reach even the most remote enchanted village. A region for all the Seasons.

It is a green and natural area containing 4 national parks. In these parks you can find wolves, bears, eagles and boars roaming wild. The highest mountain in the Appenino range is the Gran Sasso which rises to 2912 metres and is good for horse trekking, rock climbing, cross country and recreational skiing or snowboarding. The coast has wonderful beches.
The history of Abruzzo is a fascinating one and is very ancient, with culture stemming from Longobardi, Svevi, Angevin and Spanish invaders, who brought also culture. Hence the villages are situated on hillsides for defence, and every village has a castle or tower as a retreat from invaders. The influence of religion has also shaped the culture, the architecture and the ancient layout of the landscape. You will find many religious and agricultural feasts or “Sagre” throughout the year. Each Sagra has its own particular unique style. Inland from the sunny beaches you will find a stunning selection of ancient castles, monasteries and churches nestled almost stone built villages which merge organically into the countryside.
